With this festival, the month of Pausha ends, and the month of Magh begins. Lohri is considered a major festival of North India, which is celebrated with great pomp in Punjab and Haryana. According to Punjabi traditions, on the day of Lohri, farmers offer new crops to God in their homes. The financial New Year of the farmers begins the next day after the puja-archana. On this day people put jaggery, revdi, gajak, groundnut in the holy fire of Lohri and revolve around it.
